Don't Pass Up Thrift Stores

For those of us who don't mind fishing around in thrift stores, it could be a great opportunity to find some treasures.  Personally, I am not too thrilled about second hand clothing and shoes.  However, there are plenty of other items available.  For example, you may find a great piece of jewelry at a deep discount.  If you're into vintage jewelry, there's a good chance you may find it in thrift stores.

Can't find that favorite book you read as a child?  Take a look around the book selections and you might just stumble upon a copy.  Perhaps other titles may jump out and perk your interest.  Sometimes, when a kind person donates their old and used books, they do not realize that they may be relinquishing a valuable piece of binding literature. Keep an eye out for those old vintage books, they may be worth a fortune!  There are tons of selections and genres of titles to choose from, so read on. Amazon also have tons of great new titles to choose from.  To view new titles and almost everything, visit,  Amazon.com.

Let's not stop at just books and jewelry, let's delve into furniture.  Again, vintageand antique pieces of furniture could be gorgeous with a little restoration.  Why pay a hefty price at a real antique shop?  By all means if you have the dough to spend, then go for it.  It doesn't hurt however, to look in a couple of thrift shops first and see what you can find. I would not go for old mattresses, couches and things of that nature because of bed bug fear.  It is not impossible to repair those items, but it could be costly and not worth it.

As I mentioned above, I would not personally purchase clothing, but I couldn't help but to grab a beautiful vintage trench leather coat.  It was a gorgeous burgandy with a silk inside lining and perfect stitching.  For around forty bucks, I was able to enjoy that coat for a few years.  I've received many compliments on that lovely coat.  Ifa great looking coat or jacket grabs your attention, get them dry cleaned and enjoy.  Often, some items are gently used and thrift store cheap.

There are so many other items available besides what I mentioned.  Children's toys are abundant in thrift shops.  The selections could be endless; from board games, dolls and dollhouses, hand-held games, etc.  Kitchen items also available are dishes, glasses, cups, silverware and pots.  I would stay away from the plastic utensils and stick to glass items as plastic may have bacteria.  Other than that, you can save plenty of money on kitchen neccessities and find beautiful pieces.

Whatever it is that you want to shop for, don't pass up thrift stores.  Go with an open mind and look around carefully, you never know when you stumble upon your own piece of treasure!
